- Look at pictures – Look online or ask the venue for images showing how the room was dressed for past weddings or events. This will give you ideas on what you think works well in the room and what doesn’t.
- Examine the existing decor – Take a look at the rooms existing decorations and figure out what you like and what you might want the venue to put away. Some of the existing decor may match your theme and could be used to your advantage.
- Lighting – The rooms lighting is often something that is overlooked by venue dressing companies. You need to consider what time of day your event is taking place. For example, in the day the natural light will help to light up the room. However, in the evening you may require uplighting and lighter coloured decorations, to keep the room light and bright.
- Meet with the venue – Arrange a meeting with the venue to make sure you are on the same wave length. Also, take the florist if possible, so that they know what they have to work with
